Hunter: The Reckoning- Redeemer

My sidekick, Bean Bag Boy, and I were playing 'Hunter: The Reckoning: Redeemer' last night and I suggested that it would make a great movie. We were waist deep in zombie scum at the time so the thought drifted out of my head as quickly as it had arrived. The thought returned today, so I thought I'd do a quick search of the web to see if a 'Hunter' movie was in the works. It took me about 30 seconds to find some rather disturbing information contained in a press release posted on the White Wolf website.

"Atlanta, GA, January 16, 2004 — White Wolf Publishing, Inc. today finalized an agreement with German director/producer Uwe Boll for the film rights of its Hunter: The Reckoning horror property."

"Atlanta, GA, January 16, 2004 — White Wolf Publishing, Inc. today finalized an agreement with German director/producer Uwe Boll for the film rights of its Hunter: The Reckoning horror property."Source:Why is this disturbing? Uwe Boll is responsible for some of the worst atrocities committed to film! Any one that has seen his crowning glory 'Alone in the Dark' will be forever asking themselves why? 'Alone in the Dark' was supposedly based on the video game of the same name. By 'based on' I guess that Uwe means that the only link between the film and the first video game is that the main characters share the same name. 'Alone in the Dark' was nominated for two Golden Raspberry awards in 2005, Worst Director (Uwe Boll) and Worst Actress (Tara Reid). I'm sorry, but I thought Tara Reid looked and sounded hung over for a majority of the film, but then, if I'd signed up to be part of this movie then I'd probably hit the bottle too. You'll have to forgive me, but I just wasn't sold on the idea of a surgically enhanced Tara Reid playing a brilliant young archaeologist.

Boll's production company, Boll KG, bills itself as the "World Market Leader in Video Game Adaptations". As "World Market Leader" Boll has released the following gems, 'House of the Dead', 'Alone in the Dark' and 'BloodRayne'. All three of these films current appear in the Internet Movie Database's bottom 100 films list. Apparently a fourth video game adaptation in the Boll cannon, 'Dungeon Siege', is nearing the final stages of production.

My favourite Boll quote comes from an interview he did whilst promoting 'BloodRayne'. In justifying why he had employed Romanian prostitutes rather than hiring actors, Boll is quoted on wikipedia as saying:

"They [Romanian prostitutes] were better than actors. We looked for local Romanian actresses, but there they are all from the theater and act very broadly. For 150 euros a piece the whores would be naked and do as they were told. It was better."

He may make some terrible films, but you have to admire his ability to manage a budget!

This guy's track record speaks for itself. I just hope he sells the film rights to 'Hunter' off to some one else, before he commits another atrocity on an unsuspecting film going community.
