Breaking News - My ongoing war with obesity has taken a drastic turn. Getting ready for work this morning I had to find a pair of work appropriate pants. I reached for my 'fat' pants that I hadn't worn to work for a month of two. I put them on and they fell straight down to the floor. I then reached for my old 'rock' work pants that I hadn't worn for a while because I hadn't been able to button them up. THE ROCK PANTS FIT AGAIN!! Rock on kids! The roof over the tool shed no longer casts such a large shadow! My fat rant, brought to you by body shop supplies.

I caught the movie Fearless on the weekend. The film was based on the life of Huo Yuanjia, a Chinese martial artist and founder of the Chin Woo Athletic Association, a martial arts school in Shanghai. The film itself was good, not as good as 'Hero', but better than 'House of Flying Daggers'. The fight scenes were awesome, and worth the ticket price, with a majority of the action confined to the first half of the film.

After watching the film I was interested to read more about Huo Yuanjia, so I surfed the net for a little while. After reading the wikipedia article I started to wonder what in the film was fact, and what was fiction. » Read the rest of the entry..

Proving that you can buy and sell pretty much anything these days, 'World Peace' is currently up for grabs on ebay. Last time I checked it was going for $13 which is a pretty good deal, particularly as its listed in 'as new' condition.

Woohoo biatches! I have a ticket to see Tool when they come to Melbourne next January!!! Never seen them live before so I can't wait. For the time being the tickets are going into tool storage. Adam Jones, the guitar player, is one cool dude. I want one of those silverburst Les Paul Customs that he plays. Check out his myspace page, he's into all sorts of groovy art and stuff...

Hunter: The Reckoning Redeemer - Xbox***

I loved Hunter: The Reckoning on PS2, so I decided to pick up Redeemer on Xbox. It seemed a hell of a lot easier than The Reckoning.
As with the other Hunter games, this one is made to be played with friends.

One player mode gets a touch boring after a while. Any way, my secret to success was playing as the Matyr, running around a lot and not letting bad guys get close enough to touch me. It was that simple. Pick up a decent ranged weapon, put some ground between you and the bad guy and shoot till they go down. Some of the bosses were a little tougher, however the run and shoot strategy still works.

With the slower bosses I found you can run circles around them and melee attack them from behind. It's kind of comical in that respect. Overall, this game reminds me of a present day version of Golden Axe (look it up kids, it was a classic!). Not all that challenging.

Next game scheduled to fall to me and my controller: Return to Castle Wolfenstien.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, "Paramount Pictures is ending its 14-year relationship with Tom Cruise after the disappointing performance of his latest film, Mission: Impossible III." Paramount have apparently put the bust up down to Tom's "bizarre off-screen antics".

This story saddened me. MI3 wasn't a terrible film, I mean there were moments that I actually forgot I was watching a Tom Cruise movie. Sure, it ran like a big screen adaptation of the TV show 'Alias' minus Jennifer Garner, but who really cares? It was a popcorn movie. It did what it was supposed to and entertained people for 2 hours.

It's time to cut the guy some slack. In my opinion, it is his bizarre off-screen behaviour that keeps him interesting. Slagging off Brooke Shields, getting aggro with journo's, soiling Oprah's couch, the Scientology thing, hooking up with Dawson's missus, odd baby names. That's entertainment. Yes, he may be a scientologist, but at least he didn't make 'Battlefield Earth'!

Tom may need some help to get the whole movie career back on track. If I was his agent, I'd be trying to secure him the lead role in 'Snakes on a Plane 2' before it's too late.

As far as I'm concerned any show that opens with the statement "viewer discretion is advised" is worth watching at least once. If you haven't seen it, 'The First 48' is like 'Cops' but without a cool theme song, and is a bit more intense in that it follows homicide detectives during the first 48 hours of 'real world' homicide investigations. Channel 7, Wednesday nights, 11pm. One of the detectives looks like a clone of that Andy Sippowitz (however the hell it's spelt) character from NYPD Blue.

In other news, my fight against morbid obesity has hit a road block, I seem to be stuck on 97kgs. I think I deserve my own 'Shock Docs' special. Which reminds me, where the hell did 'Shock Docs' go? Two weeks ago the TV guide promised a 'Shock Docs' episode dedicated to people who had undergone operations, only to have surgeons leave their surgical instruments behind. THE TV GUIDE LIED!!! Looks like 'Shock Docs' has been canned.
