Amazon.com has 'The Open Door' by Evanescence listed for release on October 3rd, and is available for pre-order now. 'The Open Door' is the follow-up to 'Fallen' which was released in 2003. Evanescence have undergone a couple of line up changes since that album, with the most prominent being the departure of guitarist/co-writer/co-founder Ben Moody.
I've heard the first single 'Call me when your sober' twice now. The first time was when I saw the film clip on Video Hits, and the second time was on the radio. The first time I heard it, I wasn't too impressed. It sounded a little like an overblown Meatloaf power ballad thing. Perhaps the film clip didn't exactly help things. The second time I didn't totally despise it, so maybe it will grow on me.
'Fallen' did a good job of bringing goth tinged pop/rock to the masses. whether or not 'The Open Door' can maintain the standard set by it's predecessor remains to be seen.
