I finally watched 'Slither' the other night. 'Slither' is tells the story of a small US town that is quickly taken over by evil alien slugs that turn the towns residents into spaced out zombies and a range of grotesque oddities. 'Slither' is classic b-grade horror/comedy and stars Nathan Fillion (from Firefly/Serenity) as the local sheriff and Elizabeth Banks (the hot bookstore chick from 'The 40 Year Old Virgin') as the local hot chick and love interest.
The film plays out as a homage to 1950's style horror/sci-fi, complete with the industry standard meteorite crashing to earth, before it takes a trip down 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' lane. There are some genuinely funny moments in the movie, and you could not accuse it of taking itself too seriously. There are also some truly grotesque gross out moments as well. Lets just say that any time an alien slug crawls into your mouth to gestate, the end result is not always going to be desirable. At least that's my experience.
Watch 'Slither' if you like to laugh and be disgusted at the same time. B grade horror fans will love it. Pseudo intellectuals will not.
