"Many believe that there are 666 gates to Hell hidden here on earth. Legend says that somewhere in Japan's 'Forest of Resurrection' lies the 444th gate. Escaped prisoner KSC2-303 is doubled crossed by his rescuers and flees into the mysterious forest. Within the trees, dead Yakuza come back to life to seek vengeance on all living souls. Prisoner KSC2-303 must fight his pursuers, the police and Yakuza zombies to stay alive."
So I watched 'Versus' on Monday night, and yes, it is everything that the above blurb suggests that it is. It's like a samurai, kung fu version of Evil Dead. I watched it with subtitles so
no doubt I missed many of the intricacies of the plot, but still, it was entertaining in a bizarre way. Absurdly violent, nonsensical in places, and derivative in others. Yes I love zombie movies, yes I love crappy martial arts movies, but I don't love annoying crappy tokenistic love interests, and guess what? This movie has one! Therefore it can only be awarded 2 1/2 pickles.
