In another grand unveiling from the Detroit Motor Show, Jeep revealed their new Trailhawk concept. On first appearance it's fairly obvious that the Trailhawk has come off the Jeep Wrangler platform.

“The key to the look of the Trailhawk,” said Nick Vardis, principal exterior designer, “is the vehicle’s distinctive proportions, due in part to its 2947 mm wheelbase. The dash-to-front-axle dimension is dramatically long, giving the vehicle a sense of forward motion, while the front and rear overhangs are tight and abbreviated.“

The Trailhawk also adopts the Wranglers off road pedigree, but is fully decked out with the latest interior technology. The 'audio pod' stereo system is a nice touch, allowing integration of mp3 players.

Performance wise, the Jeep Trailhawk's 3.0L engine is capable of a modest 158 kW @ 4000 rpm and 510 Nm @ 1600-2800 rpm. So it won't set any land speed records, but then, that's not really it's intention. No word as yet as to whether or not this concept will hit production.
