Accepting the evils of insurance
I've finally come to the realization that insurance is a necessary evil. It's one of those things that you will continually fork out money for, but hope you will never have to use. I used to think that car insurance was a sham. Each year I'd hand over a stack of cash to the insurance company, and each year I'd get nothing in return. At the rate a car depreciates, it's probably a toss up as to whether or not car insurance is worth your while. I guess that view changes rather quickly when someone forgets to stop and slams into your car. Hypothetically speaking, of course. What am I saying? Well, if you'd asked me 12 months ago what I thought about insurance, then I probably would have told you that I thought it was money down the drain. Ask me now though, and I'll tell you that I believe it's one of those things in life that you do, not because you want to, but because you'd rather deal with forking out cash for insurance each year rather than deal with the alternative if life deals you a kick in the head. I'm not exactly sure that I'd consider pet insurance a necessity. Like wise for travel insurance, although I guess that depends on where your traveling, and for how long. Home insurance on the other hand, would be an absolute must. That is, if I ever win tattslotto so that I can afford a home in the first place!
