The defacto Digg ban
You may remember that earlier this year, Swollen Pickles made the exclusive "Banned by Digg" list. A short time later, Swollen Pickles was "unbanned". The world rejoiced. Well, it has been brought to my attention by Paula Mooney, that the Digg conspiracy is alive and well. It seems that the fascists at Digg have developed an evil auto burying program, so whilst Swollen Pickles is no longer "banned", if anyone submits any posts from this site to Digg, they will automatically be buried, and therefore never see the light of day.
According to Paula, Swollen Pickles has been "automatically buried" since 1 March 2007. Here's the skinny on how to find out if you've made Digg's sh!t list (thanks to Paula for the instructions):
Do this to find out if Digg is automatically burying you...
(1) Write a quality story and submit it to Digg.com, then perform a Digg search on your URL -- leave "Include Buried Stories" unchecked, search on URL only, newest stories first.(2) Check back in about an hour, note the time and perform the same Digg search as above, this time with "Include Buried Stories" checked.
(3) Repeat this process on all your great stories, noting the time they get buried. If about 1 hour and 25 minutes elapses after each story gets buried -- congratulations! -- You've made it on to Digg.com secret blacklist.
I'd like to see the criteria that the Digg fascists use to determine whether a site makes their auto bury list. Go ahead and digg this, see how far the rabbit hole really goes.
