May 2007 Goal Update
Well I am now three months into the personal goal project. May 2007 was both a good and bad month. I did get a little distracted throughout May and lost sight of the end target. It's fairly safe to say that some of the months results reflect that.
Here is the report on the results for May 2007.
1. Develop Swollen Pickles into a website that can generate $200 per month.
For the second month in a row Swollen Pickles raked in over $100.
The total for the month was $109.58. The breakdown by revenue source being:
Adsense: $23.10
PayPerPost: $82.00
Kontera: $1.86
Text-Link-Ads: $2.62
Text Link Ads looks like it could be a decent earner, I only got the post links working in the last day or two of May so they haven't been included here. I wonder what those figures would have been like had I maintained the previous level of traffic? Which leads me to goal number 2.
2. Develop Swollen Pickles to the point where it receives 15,000 unique visits per month.
Unfortunately I could replicate last months high of 6,088 unique visits for the month. In May 3,620 unique visitors stopped by SwollenPickles.com.

A little disappointing, but it is probably a reflection of the amount of time I spent on the site. Short of posting photos of Paris Hilton in jail, I'm not too sure how I'm going to pick things up again for June. Following the Page Rank update, Swollen Pickles now has a rank of 4.
3. Develop digitalburn.org into a website that can generate $30 per month.
Last month DigitalBurn.org made $6.19. Pretty sad really. Luckily May saw a drastic improvement! Digital Burn brought in a total of $26.06. Here's the breakdown:
Adsense: $7.93
AuctionAds: $15.72
Kontera: $2.41
4. Develop digitalburn.org to the point where it receives 7,500 unique visits per month.
Traffic to digitalburn.org almost doubled this month, with 3,194 unique visits compared to 1,808 uniques for April. I'm putting this down to an increase in content, which I like to think people might find useful, as well as the page rank update. Digital Burn now has a Google Page Rank of 3.
5. Achieve my goal weight of 80kgs, which would give me a BMI within the “normal†range.
Look, there is no easy way to say this... I freakin put on a kilo! I tipped the scales at 98kgs! I don't want to hit triple figures again!
6. Buy an Xbox 360 (yes I know, counterproductive to no.5, but I need one!).
Zero progress.
7. Write and record three new songs including lyrics and vocals.
Following the NIN gig in May I was inspired to play again. As a result I cranked out some industrial style head ache music. Not sure it's suitable for the general public as yet though.

Wow, such high goals! Even just $100 dollars a month for one blog would already be great for me.
I sure hope you reach your target, and will be dropping by to learn from you
live the dream, club a seal!
To be honest, $100 per month hasn’t been that difficult, the hardest part is building up a steady traffic flow.
