I've been pouring over the statistics the past couple of days, looking at what has worked, and what hasn't, in terms of making money in 2007. I've found a couple of interesting things.

I joined Kontera in mid February 2007. The idea was to have another ad program that ran alongside Adsense to earn a little extra revenue. Unfortunately, a 'little' is all it seems to have brought in. Based on my experience here, and on DigitalBurn.org, there is no way I could afford to use Kontera as an Adsense replacement. My total income for Kontera has just hit the $20 mark. Not setting the world on fire that's for sure.

Here's a breakdown of the stats per site.

Swollen Pickles: 273 clicks @ $0.05 avg per click
Digital Burn: 93 clicks @ $0.06 avg per click

Now, at 5 cents per click, is that enough money to receive in return for sending someone away from my sites? In comparison, AuctionAds passed the $20 mark in one month. Perhaps if your site receives tens of thousands of views per week Kontera might be worth the time, but if your is like Swollen Pickles, you may want to keep looking for the perfect Adsense alternative.

I finally took the plunge and removed it from swollenpickles.com the annoyance to payoff ratio just wasn’t worth it. I could take one PPP opp. and make more from that than I would off Kontera for a year!

LEAVE A RESPONSE

I like it when people leave comments. It makes me feel warm inside. What I don't like is when I receive comments from people with robot sounding names like "free web hosting" or "North Carolina Real Estate". Names like these will trigger the SPAM alarm at Pickles HQ, and likely get deleted. In summary, comments that look like an attempt to do nothing more than build back links will be deleted. Thanks for your understanding ~ swollenpickles.
