I have to say that the Harry Potter series, although taken as a completely fantasy world, is still worth the read. The worst thing you could do is judge the book series by the first movie. I read all the books before ever watching any of the movies, and i have to say, the first couple could have been much better.

I have complete respect for a person who says that they have started to read the book and found it extremely boring, or whatever, but to base your entire opinion on the movie (which was great, but not nearly as thrilling as the actual book) is plain stupid. The journey is what is important in any type of story, and the journey in Harry Potter is the most magical thing about the book, not just the ending. So if you do ever read the books (even though they are huge, you’ll really get into them) hopefully you’ll change your opinion!

I haven't read a HP book yet. My young son has the Order of the Pheonix which we got way back, and started reading it in bed at night to him but it was just too scary for the boy. I did post about someone photoing (is that a word?) the entire book and releasing that days before this book was for sale.
