BlogRush is still a giant stuffed turkey

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Well, my official BlogRush experiment has ended, and guess what? It's still a giant stuffed turkey! This morning I reviewed my stats for October and found that it had sent me a mammoth 4 visitors. I decided enough was enough, and tossed the widget into the widget recycling bin.

Looks like I should have made the decision to dump it the first time I declared it a turkey.

The growing Mpire finds TIME

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Gee, that was a real clever headline! Don't act like you're not impressed... anyway... on to the post...

I was just doing a little research on Mpire, the company behind WidgetBucks and found this interesting snippet of information. The Mpire website made it into the TIME top 50 websites. You can check out the TIME write up of Mpire here. The TIME endorsement comes at a good 'time' (pun intended) for WidgetBucks and should give both members and those considering joining up, further confidence that WidgetBucks won't be a fly by night operation.

If you've been considering joining WidgetBucks but haven't taken the plunge yet, then check out the TIME article and then join WidgetBucks here... I need all the bonus signup love I can get!

Xbox 360 arcade edition

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Just read that there will be an Xbox 360 arcade edition released prior Christmas. Herald-Sun listed it as $399, with the key difference to the standard Xbox 360 being that this version doesn't come with the hard drive.

Should I go for the bargain basement version, or save a little more for the real deal?

Anyway, I'm off to play Scarface on my antique Xbox now.

The Google Age

Monday, October 29th, 2007

"In the brave new world of online media, fortunes can be won and lost on the whim of Google's key search algorithm."

If you haven't read the article posted on the Age website regarding the Google tweak, then you should give it a look. Darren Rowse and Yaro Starak are both quoted in the article, that covers off the most recent page rank update fiasco.

For some reason, I found the following paragraph particularly entertaining:

"Ironically, in the ultimate democracy that is the internet, Google reigns as virtual dictator. By changing the way it ranks sites in search results, it has the power to effortlessly shape the digital economy and manipulate the incomes of millions of web businesses around the world."

I guess I'm just bitter because Google have only sent me 218 visitors so far this month, and don't seem too keen on responding to my emails. *sigh*

The Nintendo Wii Fan

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

This one was highlighted in the Friday Funnies that get posted on the Age website. Classic interview, fantastic interview technique, and I have to say, the way this guy responds to the questions is exemplarary! He definitely needs to start his own media training course.

Warning: Nintendo Wii related content.

I love it, that guy needs his own TV show so he can talk about current affairs and stuff. Captivating.

The fight

Friday, October 26th, 2007

So I got in a fight this morning... want to know how it started?

I rear-ended a car this morning on the way to work.

I knew right then and there that it was going to be a REALLY bad day.

The driver got out of the other car and wouldn't you know it, he was a dwarf.

He stormed over to my car, looked up at me and said "I'm NOT f*#%ing happy!"

So I said "Well, which f*#%ing one are you then?"

And that's how the fight started......

Please Note: Just in case you weren't sure, the above is a joke. There was no car crash, no dwarf, and no fight.

Viva Laughlin gets the chop

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

I hope no one here got too engrossed in the new Hugh Jackman, musical drama series, Viva Laughlin. Just saw channel nine advertising 'Two Weeks Notice' as this coming Monday's movie for the 8.30pm timeslot. That wasn't a great sign, seeing the show bumped after it's first episode. So I did a quick search, and found that Viva Laughlin had been axed by CBS in the US after only 2 episodes.

If you blinked and missed it, Viva Laughlin was a musical drama set in a Las Vegas style casino. It was always going to meet with mixed opinion, some people were bound to like it, while others were guaranteed to see it as the first sign of the apocalypse!
