Impending problems with PayPerPost
I'm going to flag it for you now, Octobers earnings will not be anywhere near as high as the previous two months. Why? The number of PayPerPost opportunities that I'm comfortable with taking is decreasing by the minute. Recently I have had one post repeatedly rejected because the opportunity I'd taken specified that there be "no in post disclosure". Apparently the fact that I included "This post sponsored by:" at the very end of the post meant that the post could not be accepted.
Advertisers are becoming increasingly demanding. For example, there are currently a range of $5 (50 word minimum) post opportunities available. As well as the one mandatory link, these the advertisers have specified that for these opportunities, three additional links are also required. To top things off the opportunity concludes with:
"DO NOT INCLUDE ANY IN TEXT DISCLOSURE SUCH AS "sponsored by" "Paid for by" -- Disclosure, if any, must be in the form of a picture."
Likewise there are other opportunities that specify things such as "Please no in text disclosure!!!".
I have no problems with the whole paid posting thing, so long as the person posting is free to disclose that they received payment for it. I know PayPerPost like to point to the "Disclosure Policy" and the little disclosure badges as a way to disclose paid posting, but in my opinion, whacking a little badge in the bottom of your blog is not satisfactory. The sitewide method does not allow for readers to differentiate what posts a blogger was paid to post compared to those posted freely. This is particularly a problem for a blog like this one that takes paid opportunities relatively infrequently.
The minimum Google Page Rank required for a blog to take up the opportunity these requirements were taken from is 3. Besides all the other issues with this, $5 is not a lot of money to be paying for 4 links on a PR3+ blog. For all the hoops a poster is required to jump through before this could be approved, $5 hardly seems worth it. Another thing is that If the post stuck to 50 word mark, around 25% of the post would be made up of anchor text.
If advertisers specify that there be no in text disclosure then PayPerPost should make the "Disclosure Badge BubbleAd" a mandatory requirement.
I've been a long time PayPerPost user, and have generally been quite happy with their service, but this recent drop in both quality of posts, and the apparent endorsement of "restricted disclosure" is starting to become a problem. Hopefully it is a problem that they address far sooner than later. So, how do you feel about PayPerPost at the moment?
Edit: I've also just joined LinkWorth to see how they go as well. Looks like I'm doing some ad program spring cleaning.

I feel ya pain. I too have become more and more irritated with all of the gymnastics for all of the posts being rejected. But what really toasts my hide is when you a post riding on your blog for close to a month only to be rejected for some ridiculous issues like the ones you have pointed out.
I have slowly started to migrate to other less intimidating reviews and posting opps by way of forums and other pay to blog services.
BTW, when my posts get rejected, I just deposit them into my own article directory.
Isnt payperpost coming out with a new platform in the next month or two? They might be putting a lot of time into this project and forgetting somewhat about the current system. Just a thought.
I too noticed the advertisers becoming more crappier. i think the only thing we can do is hope & pray
its’s good I’ve options from sponsored review plus linkworth too, but even though they pay better, it doesn’t come often
i bet also alot of blogger is affected recently due to google pagerank, many have their PR dropped
I’ve found sponsored reviews to be a lot better than PPP. Linkworth seems to be fairly useless without a PR – and I hate to tell you but my Google PR toolbar says there is no PR on this page. Of course it could be wrong..
Cheers,
Snoskred
Yeah, I also use the more well known forums to get my site review clients. I like being able to write a post and be paid for my work upfront based on my rep and itrader. waiting and waiting is the worst system that PPP has.
Hi Snoskred, you’d be right about this page having a zero page rank, but that’s cos its only a day old. The main site is still sitting at PR4. Still waiting for the PR update to see what some of the inner pages score (if the PR update ever happens!).
The good thing about linkworth is that it is a 70-30 split. I think it’s worth checking out as an alternative. Again, I’ll give it a while and see how it goes.
I’ve been with LinkWorth for a couple years now. It has been a great source of income for several of my sites. But, as others have stated, they really overvalue PR which could help or hurt you depending on how high you rank.
[...] Swollen Pickles (love the name of this site) touched on the impending problems with PayPerPost. I’ve noticed the same issue with quite a few opportunities indicating that you are not [...]
agreed Snoskred
i tried Sponsored review recently and on average i get US$40 daily, you must have opportunities of course
also my blog is ranked quite well, so i guess i get all the quality offers that i bid
