Billiards is one of those games that I'd like to be able to play a lot more of if only I had more time or resources. If you are going to go out and buy all the gear you need, including the table, billiards quickly becomes a rich mans sport. At least, that's what I learned today.

From what I can tell www.borderbilliards.com is a relatively new site. It does not yet have a page rank, and its Alexa ranking is in the millions. Obviously whoever is behind it is out to create a quick buzz, and I'm more than happy to oblige.

The website itself is well designed, looks the part, and technically seems to function ok. The major problem is that the owner seems to have decided to 'go live' with the site, before all of the content was ready. So what you find is that when you click on some of the links, take the information page as an example, you end up with no content, just a white space where the content should be.

There are also a lot of blank areas where product images are supposed to go. Take this screen shot of the featured products as an example.

The testimonial section is another problem area. At the moment it includes, "TESTIMONIAL #3 HERE...". This gives the appearance that the site is only half finished and waiting for someone to come along and populate it with content. My other piece of advice is remove the 'Yahoo' icon as the sites Favicon. Makes me wonder whats going on.All in all, Borders Billiards looks like it has some potential, although at the moment it looks as though there is some work to be done before it could be considered finished.

I am a billiards and skittles player of some proficiency and just like you am unable to play as often as I would like to. I cannot afford to keep a table at home but, play at my club whenever I can. I visited borderbilliards only to be disapointed as they are merchants. I was hoping for some information on billiards.

The home page of borderbilliards.com says the site is yet to be launced. It seems they are working on it.

LEAVE A RESPONSE

I like it when people leave comments. It makes me feel warm inside. What I don't like is when I receive comments from people with robot sounding names like "free web hosting" or "North Carolina Real Estate". Names like these will trigger the SPAM alarm at Pickles HQ, and likely get deleted. In summary, comments that look like an attempt to do nothing more than build back links will be deleted. Thanks for your understanding ~ swollenpickles.
