What sort of ass master would think that it's a good idea to steal content SwollenPickles.com? Hmmm... apparently the 'BollywoodSpiceGuru' thinks it's a solid idea. To whoever you may be, I don't really care how or why you've done it, but could you please stop doing it? The ass master thing aside, I'm trying to be nice about this.

For everyone else, is it ironic that the post that was pinched is titled 'How to prevent hotlinking and bandwidth theft'? Every since the Alanis Morrisette song, I have to admit, my understanding of the term 'irony' has become a little hazy. But I shouldn't be too hard on Alanis. I mean thanks to music I can now spell 'Bananas' (thank you Gwen Stefani and "Hollaback Girl") as well as 'Glamorous' (thank you Fergie and "Glamorous").

I may have digressed... so, what do you do when you've found someone copying your posts word for word?

I'm thinking of giving my pal Terry Tate a call, see if he has any suggestions.

Go Terry!

What’s interesting is that it looks like he pinched the raw html, including links back to your site and everything.

    This probably won’t help but..

That’s the weirdest thing! He/she has even linked to the comments of each post. Bizarre.

I love Terry Tate flicks seen quite a few including this one. However I really enjoyed seeing it again.

As for the knob jockey that stole the content I hope he feels ashamed of his shameful acts.

I may get ‘link’ inspiration from other peoples’ posts /links but I always look it up myself, rewrite, chose my own links - etc but I never copy whole content and I mostly write …a link to them directly.
I will be more careful not to imitate their copy too… you tube links can be very good for a lazy blogging day.
thanks for sharing … it was brilliant what you did and even more so with bulls test tickles :)

I’ve struggled with this for about 3 months now. The sploggers basically steal your content to add to sites that have affiliate links- and most of them never go to your blog, they pick up the posts through your feed. The only thing I’ve come up with was a WordPress plugin, (email me for the name because I can’t remember it), that adds a copyright notice right before the post’s feed begins. Mine says something like “if you aren’t reading this as a subscriber via a feed reader then the content has been stolen…” and I provide a link to my contact page. No one has ever contacted me, so I doubt these blogs, at least yet, are getting much traffic.

Thanks Beth, I gave that plugin a try for a while. In this case I think wormbrain is right, it looks like they’ve cut and pasted the html from my front page, which seems like a bizarre way of going about it.

It is the pickle that attracts them.
I have had the same sort of perverse flattery - little comfort I know.
Bizarre since all the links came back to my blog anyway, though I am not witnessing any increased traffic from the “mirror” sites.
    Why would one bother?

The only good thing I suppose is that he/she thinks that you’re story was good enough for their blog too!!! does annoy me though people can’t think for themselves!!!

Well if someone is stealing it, it is worthy of it, that is the only consolation…

If they are snagging images, there are tricks you can do to screw their happiness.
