The Snuggie is snugtastic
Today I have some late night TV infomercial gold to share with you. If you've already seen this, please feel free to skip straight to the parody version.
For those unfamiliar with the Snuggie, it is an innovative powerhouse of a product, it's a blanket... with sleeves! Glorious. The Snuggie is designed to keep your entire body covered and "cozy" while you still retain the use of your hands.
The history of the Snuggie is an interesting one:
The product was first commercialized as the Slanket by Gary Clegg in Maine in 1998 using heavy fleece material. Clegg's mother made him a blanket with a single sleeve for use in his cold dorm room. Clegg later developed that into the Slanket with two sleeves.
If you can't visualise a Snuggie yet, here is an example as modelled by a seductive looking Harry Potter. Saucy!

As of February 2009 over 4 million Snuggies and 1 million Slankets have been sold worldwide. Perhaps the best part of the Snuggie phenomenon is the infomercial used to promote it. It is quite possibly the best piece of promotional guff ever created.
If that wasn't enough Snuggie for you, then here's the parody version. Whether or not it is funnier than the original though is open to debate.
Want a Snuggie of your very own? I did a quick search on eBay and turned up a stack of Snuggie auctions. Now I can be cozy and free to move my arms as well! Pure awesome.
