Infolinks eCPM takes a nose dive
I've been using Infolinks, serving in-text advertising links, for 12 months now and it looks like the honeymoon is now well and truly over. Initially the eCPM I was seeing from Infolinks was solid, and well above anything I'd been getting with Kontera.
As you can see in the graph below, my first full month with Infolinks was pretty good, bringing me a respectable $3+ eCPM. Following the first month, things levelled off, to the point where I was averaging between $1 and $1.50 eCPM for several months.

Things began to unravel during September 2009, when my eCPM dropped below $1 for the second month in a row. The downward spiral has continued since, with my Infolinks eCPM hovering around the $0.50 mark. To put this into some perspective, it means that my Infolinks earnings have dropped by a half to two thirds. I plan on sticking with them for a little longer in the hope that this downward trend turns around, but my patience will only last so long.
For anyone else out there that uses Infolinks, what has been your experience? Have you noticed a similar trend?

Hi, I’ve just signed up with Infolinks – found your site via the “happy customer” links!
I’ll let you know how it pans out with my Google Nexus One Blog
I have had a very similar experience to yours. At first, I was very happy with the earnings especially as compared to Kontera, but for a while now the ecpm has been pitiful. I will likely remove them from my site soon. I would love to know if anyone knows of an alternative to infolinks as it just doesn’t seem what it used to be.
I didn’t realise I was quoted on the testimonials page until you pointed it out. Thanks for the heads up Nexus.
Well I’ve found infolinks to be pretty poor – e.g. 1c per click. At this rate it will take me a hundred years before I even get a payout since you have to get to $100 first I think.
I’m going to try Kontera instead
