The question of would I ever buy a car off eBay was asked of me the other day, and for once, I was actually stuck for an answer. At first I was in the 'Nahhh' corner, but the more I thought about it the more I started to warm to the idea. In many ways it's no different than finding a car in the trading post or something similar. I guess what puts me off, is the amount of money involved. For me, buying a car is a high involvement purchase, and going through that process on line still does not quite sit right with me. » Read the rest of the entry..

When I think about all the different things I could spend my money on, a car number plate does not appear at the top of my list. It's one of those things I have because it's required. I certainly would be forking out in excess of $1million (AUD) for the "right to display" a single digit number plate. $1 million (AUD) is what the number plate with "6" is expected to fetch at the Shannons auction at the Sydney International Motorshow.

$1 million for a number plate! Lets put that into perspective, you could buy a single number plate you could instead buy:

I know what I'd rather do with the money, but what about you? How much would you be willing to spend on a "special" numberplate?

Well you can file this one under the "here's something you don't see everyday" category. A shameless publicity stunt from MINI showcasing the fact that the MINI Cooper hardtop could in fact float you're boat, given the right opportunity and sea conditions.

I wonder if it's road worthy? I wonder if it needs any [insert tenuous link... now] power supply repair?

Car parking is indeed a lost art. Check out this post that highlights some of the worst examples of car parking in history.

The highlight for me was this video of a driver making very very hard work of parallel parking.

What's the worst example of car parking you've seen?

I'm not sure whether many people have picked up on this story or not, but Hyundai have come out in the last couple of days to say that they will be removing some safety features from the Santa Fe models. Where stability control and side airbags were once standard across their Santa Fe range, now they aren't. You can read the full story about Hyundai's disgraceful decision here.

Effectively Hyundai are cutting costs, to maximize profits, with the understanding that in doing so, they are placing their customers at increased risk.

Am I being too harsh??

Shameless plug for today: children insurance

Richard WilkinsFor anyone that cares, the Hyundai 'baby' ad that caused such a poo storm earlier this year in Australia, is set to return. This time it will be edited down, to remove any scenes depicting the toddler driving the car.

What do I think? I think the bloody ad should be banned! Sent to the bottom of the ocean, never to be seen again. It's an abomination!

Why? Because apparently the Hyundai 'baby' ad is a favorite of the human cesspool of celebrity reporting, Mr Richard Wilkins!

Shame on you Hyundai, shame!

I have to say, the Holden Torana TT36 is my all time favorite concept car from Holden.
