Amidst bucket loads of hype the iPhone has finally hit Australian shores. The iPhone is arguably the biggest news in mobile telecommunications technology in the past 10-15 years. As an initial skeptic, I'm yet to take the plunge, but I have to admit, the more I think about it, the more the iPhone makes sense.

There are two things I carry with me almost daily, my mobile phone and my iPod. Therefore it make perfect sense to package the two things together, to save me pocket room.

In case you've been living under a rock and don't know what the iPhone is all about, here's a quick and simple review taken from the Age.

"What you see with the iPhone 3G is what you get: a powerful, multi-featured, music and video-playing, internet- and email-capable mobile phone with a crappy camera."

My only concern is storage capacity. My iTunes collection is quite large, and I don't want to have to go through the heart ache of culling it just so I can have the convenience of phone/music/email in one unit. At the moment there are only 8 and 16GB models, which is a little underdone for my liking.

Even if the iPhone doesn't change the world, it's sure to create a surge of new cell phone accessories. When the iPhone is able to have its memory expanded, I think that is when I'll take the plunge. Until then, I'm happy to sit back and listen to what others have to say about it.

Stumbled across the Linkback Project today and thought I may as well give it a shot, to see if it actually does me any good, if you're interested in having a crack at it as well, the details can all be found at the Linkback Project website, the first link in the list below.

Good luck.

There are now a large number of Aussie blogs using EntreCard. We are a small, but active bunch. I try to 'drop' my card on as many Aussie Bloggers as I can, kind of like an ocker community service, but often lack motivation due to the time it takes. That's why I'm rapt to have uncovered this little trick for speeding up the process. Previously I'd just been using a list of blogs to visit and drop on, this involved opening each individually and as time went by some sites stopped using EntreCard, some sites took ages to load, and some new sites came on board. With this method, you can load up a heap of fellow EntreCard users sites, and start sharing the love quickly and painlessly. » Read the rest of the entry..

Some people will go to great lengths to set their products apart from the competition on eBay. Take this auction for example.

You'd think a search for guitar parts would yield innocent enough results. Well check out how this character has gone all out to promote his "Fender USA Tele Strat Neck Plate & Screws" auction. For those unfamiliar with guitar parts a neck plate is basically a piece of metal used to attach the neck to the body of the guitar. It's not very exciting... until you use 'sex' to sell it!

It's been a while since I last did this, so I feel a little bad for starting up something I haven't managed to maintain. Seeing as though this site wouldn't be half of what it is without visitors, I thought I send some love to the people that referred me the most traffic in June.

1. Comic guru, and guy with good movie taste, Lee, Quit Your Day Job. Check out his Top five signs that your DVD collecting is getting out of hand post. I'm pretty sure I exhibit all five signs.

2. Aussie Blogging Icon, Meg, Dipping into the Blogpond. Meg puts in a huge amount of work maintaining a list of the top 100 Australian blogs, which I'm currently lucky enough to be sitting in at 35.

3. Graphic and Logo Designer, David Airey, DavidAirey.com. His is a great blog, even if you only have a passing interest in design. He's been doing a logo of the month post for a while now, and are worth exploring.

4. Cyber legend, Me, DigitalBurn.org. My neglected music blog still manages to send people over here. Go read some of the artist interviews if you're into that sort of thing.

5. Fellow Aussie Blogger, Andrew Boyd, On Blogging Australia. He keeps on keeping on, so check out his post Injader: An Australian Open Source Blog Platform for all the techo geeks out there.

Honorable mention. Wormbrain, for continuing to entertain me, and send me a few peepz at the same time.

Shameless self promotion... if you're into guitar stuff check out Guitar FX Depot. I've posted a whole heap of guitar rigs, for the guitar geeks out there.

Ahhh... self love...

Long time pickle pal David Rader has painstakingly put together a list of ASCII codes for those hard core geeks out there looking to create some "ASCII Art".

I was a little shocked to find out that ASCII art is still out there, as I thought it'd died out following the age of the Commodore 64.

I was wrong.

Another surprise was that ASCII art is no longer just about naked ladies!

Here's an example of an iPod ASCII style:

Getting a little 1990's style retro, here's Beavis:

But here's my personal favourite, Sponge Bob:

Proving that ASCII is for everyone, here's what a swollen pickles logo might look like had I decided to go in a different direction with my theme:

Now, if that has given you the motivation to go all out art school ASCII style I don't know what will!

P.S.
If you are disappointed that there were no ASCII naked ladies then check out this link (some artworks more detailed than others. Viewer discretion advised).

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has copped its fair share of flak since its release. With that in mind, I was more than a little nervous when I took my seat in the darkened cinema. I'm happy to report, that my apprehension and nervousness was misplaced.

Contrary to what I'd read, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was not all that bad. At the risk of being declared a heretic, I'd rank it as number 3 in the list of Indiana Jones films, ahead of Temple of Doom, but behind The Last Crusade and my personal favourite Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull follows Indiana Jones in the year 1957. He's a little older, but basically still getting into the same sort of trouble since we last saw him in action. This time, rather than be pursued by the Nazi's, it is the Russian's that are on his tale, in pursuit of the mythical crystal skull that may or may not have been discovered by one of Indy's long lost buddies. The story begins in Area 51, and yes, it is more than hinted that aliens are going to be involved from the very beginning. » Read the rest of the entry..
