I Am Legend is a written by Richard Matheson and released in 1954. It tells the story of Robert Neville, capturing the daily grind and horror of his life as someone who might just be the last man alive on earth. The story takes place between 1976 and 1979, as follows Neville as he goes about surviving alone following the sudden appearance of an apocalyptic plague that he is somehow immune to. The plague itself causes people to display many of the symptoms associated with vampires. The infected are vulnerable to sunlight and stakes, fearful of garlic and have a constant craving for fresh blood.

Nevilles existence is a modest one. He spends his days repairing his house, boarding up windows, disposing of vampire corpses, and hanging up strings of garlic around his home. His day light hours are also spent hunting vampires as they sleep in an attempt to thin their numbers.

The book is as much a psychological study of how a man comes to terms with living alone, as it is anything else. At times Neville borders on the insane, but the will to survive keeps bringing him back from the edge. His decision to study and understand the plague gives his life further purpose.

As Neville's studies continue, we learn that some of the infected have discover a way to hold the virus at bay. Whilst they display many of the characteristics of the vampires that haunt Neville at night, such as an aversion to sunlight and sleeping during the day, they have retained much of their humanity. To Neville though, it is hard to tell the difference.

When he stumbles across a female survivor, Ruth, one day, his life is thrown into chaos. Can he trust her after all he's seen and done?

Is the book any good? Yes. Whilst it's not very long (just over 170 pages), this makes sure things keep moving along. This is not a horror novel, nor is it a vampire story. It's a story about the lengths a man will go to in order to survive, and how he deals with loneliness. In short, it's a good read. » Read the rest of the entry..

The trailers for the Hitman movie have 'hit' YouTube. In case you don't know, Hitman is a series of games that follow the story of Agent 47, a highly sought after hitman, whose very good at his job. Hitman: Blood Money is one of the best games I have played in the past 12 months. Great game play and quite open ended in how you can go about the Hitman's work. » Read the rest of the entry..

In my inbox the other day, I received what was said to be the latest promotional poster for the Dark Knight movie. In case you live under a rock, the Dark Knight is the next installment in the Batman saga. It will star Christian Bale as Batman and Heath Ledger as the Joker. It is currently scheduled for a July 2008 release.

I open the image, and it looks awesome. Enough to get me excited, it hinted at the sort of cinematic Viagra 300 had promised. I'm pretty sure that geeks worldwide would have already received the same email, but just in case you missed it, or it got stuck in your spam filter, here is the poster I'm talking about... » Read the rest of the entry..

Here's the pitch for the new Will Ferrell movie I've scripted.

Will Ferrell plays Chuck Lynch, an egotistical, obnoxious dog trainer at the top of his profession. He and his sidekick, played by Luke Wilson, seem invincible until their dominance is threatened by a new rival. Chuck Lynch's excessive pride causes him to spiral downward to comical lows. When he is at the depths of despair, he removes his shirt and bellows, Sweet Caligula's sideburn!

"My voice is a sensitive candy corn for animals!"

After a wacky training process featuring a surprise cameo by Carl Weathers and a marginally-developed romantic subplot, he enters into a climactic showdown with his rival and emerges victorious - but not without learning a thing or two about friendship.

So what do you think? Box office gold.

Fans of Spongebob Squarepants will be happy to here about his new film that is currently in development. As you can see from the screen shot below, this new movie marks somewhat of a departure for Spongebob.

Said to track his fall from grace, "Ghetto Spongebob Squarepants" is a much darker and grittier film than its predecessor. No word yet as to whether David Hasselhoff will feature in the new film.

Well, anyone that has seen the movie 300 knows that it looks pretty good. But upon reflection, you have also probably arrived at the conclusion that the story line could be summarised quite easily on the back of a postage stamp. With this in mind, my global correspondent Bean Bag Boy has forwarded me an abridged version of the 300 script. I post it here for your reading pleasure. » Read the rest of the entry..

blades of glory promo posterIs it just me, or is Blades of Glory one of the most highly anticipated films of the year? I saw a preview and nearly wet my pants. Will Ferrell is one of the greatest actors of our generation. Figure skating is funny enough, but when you combine it with the story of two guys coming together to form the first same sex pairing in skating history, you have stumbled on comedy gold!

If you like me and can't wait to catch it, check out the Will Ferrell short film, The Landlord, co-starring the unforgettable Pearl.
